CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A theft report has been filed at Sunbelt Rentals on South Renick Avenue after a rented John Deere skid steer was not returned, valued at nearly $40,000.
On September 12, 2024, officers were dispatched to Sunbelt Rentals, located at 95 S. Renick Ave., following a theft complaint. Upon arrival, Joseph C. Rhodes, the complainant, reported that a skid steer rented by MEM Plumbing, a company based in West Palm Beach, Florida, was never returned.
Rhodes explained that the skid steer, valued at $39,000 when new, had a rental value of $4,787.91, with additional tax of $361.62. It was rented by an individual named Luis Castillo on July 9, 2024, and was due to be returned by September 10, 2024. However, Castillo did not return the equipment.
Rhodes expressed concern that the rental information might have been fraudulent. He also mentioned that a group of thieves from Chicago might be involved in a scheme to rent equipment and fail to return it.
The skid steer has been entered into the Leads system as stolen under NIC#V106324095.
