Chillicothe – A woman is in custody after an investigation was launched after her young child was rushed to the hospital after a drug overdose.
According to Chillicothe reports the incident occurred in September of 2023 when emergency crews were called to the woman’s home in Chillicothe with reports of the child acting erratic and failing her arms around. The child was first taken to Adena, but then transferred to Children’s Hospital. After the incident, CPS (Child Protective Services) and the Chillicothe police department launched an investigation.
Several home visits and interviews with the woman identified as 21-year-old Whitney Caplinger occurred but the female was not helpful with the investigation. Eventually, a warrant for her arrest was issued.
According to the Chillicothe police department, Caplinger was arrested on 5th St and Hickory St when Whitney Caplinger was seen walking and walking was known to have active warrants. Whitney was transported to RCJ where she was served a copy of her Secret Indictment for Child Endangerment F(3), and PV on the original charge of Theft, case#CRB2301179. Whitney will be held without bond until her court appearance on 03/05/2024.
Since the incident, the child has been with a foster family away from harm but has had visitation with mom.
