Chillicothe, OH – A woman was arrested for theft and criminal trespassing at Dick’s Sporting Goods on September 3, 2024, after being found in the store despite an earlier ban.

At approximately 8:12 p.m., Officer Lance Canterbury was dispatched to Dick’s Sporting Goods in response to reports of a female suspect, later identified as Stacie Wheeler, trespassing on the property. Upon arrival, Officer Canterbury learned that Wheeler was allegedly in the store’s dressing room, possibly concealing items.

Wheeler, who had previously been barred from the store by Officer Richardson on June 4, 2024, was spotted exiting the store carrying a white jacket, a large brown purse, and a white backpack. Officer Canterbury approached Wheeler, read her Miranda rights, and placed her in handcuffs.

Wheeler admitted to taking the backpack, and a subsequent search revealed additional clothing items in her purse. Store management confirmed that these items, totaling $198.42, had not been paid for. Wheeler was charged with theft and criminal trespassing, as well as for violating a previous ban from the store.

Further investigation revealed that Wheeler also had an active warrant for her arrest related to a prior theft incident, as documented in Chillicothe Municipal Court case CRB2401207. She was transported to the Ross County Jail without incident.
