A Chillicothe woman reported a disturbing incident to the Chillicothe Police Department on June 26, 2024. Upon returning home from a visit to Lancaster, her cellphone alerted her to a nearby Apple AirTag, which she believed was attached to her vehicle.

With the help of her ex-husband, who responded to the scene from Columbus, the AirTag was found under the backseat of her vehicle. The woman expressed fear for her life, suspecting someone had broken into her vehicle and placed the device. She recalled a previous incident where her vehicle registration was stolen from her unlocked car a few months ago, but did not report it at the time.

The woman also mentioned that a male acquaintance had recently discovered she was single and had been persistently contacting her, despite her clear disinterest. She had previously told him she wasn’t interested in dating, but he continued to call and message her.

The police collected the AirTag as evidence and are investigating further, attempting to trace the device’s serial number (HGQMCHGGPOGV) to its owner through Apple. The case is ongoing, and the woman’s concerns for her safety have been noted.
