Circleville – New Safety Director Rob Ware said he is, “making his rounds,” meeting all of the people that operate the City, on Tuesday he addressed City Council.
Rob Ware, Circleville’s new Director of Public Safety, addressed the City Council and community members for the first time, sharing his vision and enthusiasm for his new role.
Director Ware, who steps into this critical position with a robust background in both military and law enforcement, expressed his eagerness to enhance the public safety team in Circleville. “Thank you, President Keller, members of the council, and the Circleville community,” Ware said. “I’m excited to take on the challenge of helping to build confidence in our public safety team. Although I have an office and a desk, you might not find me there often. I’ve been actively engaging with my staff, gathering their insights, and developing a comprehensive plan to strengthen our police department.”
Ware acknowledged the upcoming discussion on legislation related to consulting services for the police department. He indicated that while he will not take a position on the matter, his familiarity with the consultant under consideration is extensive. “I have a long history of working with the consultant in question and am confident that any insights gained will validate and enhance the improvement plans we are developing,” he explained.
With a distinguished career spanning over 30 years in the Navy and Navy Reserves and more than 25 years in law enforcement, Ware is well-equipped for the role. His previous roles include serving as Chief of Police in Portsmouth and Worthington. Ware holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Ohio University, a Master of Science in Criminal Justice/Justice Administration from Tiffin University, and a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia. His training includes prestigious programs such as Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command and the FBI National Academy.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ware is actively involved in community service. He serves on Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s Ohio Recovery Advisory Council and the Appalachian Regional Commission Substance Abuse Advisory Council.
The Circleville Police Department is currently in the process of hiring new command staff, including positions for Deputy Chief, Captain, and Sergeant through the Civil Service Commission. The application period for the Chief of Police role has concluded, and the next step involves an assessment and structured panel interview for the selected candidate.
Director Ware concluded his remarks by expressing his readiness to meet with community members and council members, emphasizing his commitment to improving the public safety team and enhancing community trust. “I look forward to meeting everyone and working together to ensure Circleville has a great public safety team,” Ware said.
