The Circleville Giant Pumpkin Growers are inviting all aspiring pumpkin enthusiasts to a special meeting on March 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Circleville Library. This meeting will offer a chance for participants to learn about growing giant pumpkins and the techniques that have helped local growers produce some of the largest pumpkins in the area.
Attendees will have the opportunity to discover the secrets behind successful pumpkin growing, including the methods and strategies used by the experts. Whether you’re a first-time grower or a seasoned pro, this meeting is the perfect place to gather tips, meet fellow pumpkin enthusiasts, and learn about the exciting prizes up for grabs.
Club prizes include a variety of categories designed to encourage participation. These include a plaque for the greatest increase in weight, prizes for the closest to 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, and 800 pounds ($100 each), a 250 square foot patch, and True Green Squash. In addition, the club offers awards for places 4th through 10th at the Pumpkin Show, as well as special prizes for school FFA chapters, and jackets or patches for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
New growers are also encouraged to take part in the Charlie Brown Contest, where the club provides plants with identical genetics for first-time entrants. These plants will be available in mid-May, with cash prizes of $200 for 1st place, $150 for 2nd, and $100 for 3rd.
