Circleville, Ohio – A man was apprehended on September 21, 2024, after a police warrant attempt led to a dramatic foot chase behind a residence on Renick Avenue.

Officers were attempting to locate Travis Tate, who had an outstanding warrant, when Officer Martin reported spotting a male suspect in the rear of a property at 510 Renick Avenue Lot 17. As police approached, Tate, who was shirtless and hiding behind a shed, fled into the woods upon being ordered to stop.

A loud noise was heard as Tate jumped over a large fence into a nearby business area, prompting officers to surround the location. Officer Martin and K9 Dexter began an area search. During the search, K9 Dexter alerted near the fence line, indicating that someone had recently passed through the foliage.

As the officers continued their pursuit, they spotted Tate fleeing northward. After issuing multiple commands for him to surrender, Officer Martin drew his firearm, given the uncertainty about Tate’s potential weapons and the need for safety during the apprehension. Tate complied with the orders and was quickly detained by Officer Martin.

Tate was subsequently arrested for obstructing official business and failure to comply with an order from law enforcement. He was transported to the Pickaway County Jail, where he awaits further legal proceedings.
