CIRCLEVILLE – Last Saturday night was similar to every other Saturday night of Pumpkin Show for Officer Tommy Royster except for one thing. This was his last one, Tommy has decided to retire later this year after 31 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Circleville.

At 7pm Saturday night Tommy marked out of service on the radio for his final year of Pumpkin Show. When the officers on duty realized it was Tommys final one, everyone become silent out of respect. Tommy started with the Circleville Police Department in 1987 as a dispatcher and moved to patrol the following year.

Tommy has worked as Dayshift Supervisor, Detective, Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, SWAT operator and in Narcotics Investigations. Tommy has received many awards and praise from citizens and officers alike. Tommy was awarded Officer of the Year in 1995 and 2016 for his dedication.

If you should see Tommy out on patrol let him know he will be missed, shake his hand and wish him happy retirement.
