CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio, Aug. 16, 2024 — Effective immediately, Circleville High School and Middle School will implement new ticket pricing for athletic events in response to recent legislative changes. The adjustments come as a result of House Bill 137, which mandates that student ticket prices be set lower than adult rates.

Under the new policy established by the Mid-State League, ticket prices for high school and middle school athletic events are now required to adhere to the following rate structure:

  • High School Events: Adults – $7, Students – $6
  • Middle School Events: Adults – $5, Students – $4

At Circleville High School and Middle School, the updated ticket prices will be:

  • Circleville High School Events: Adults – $7, Students/Seniors – $5
  • Circleville Middle School Events: Adults – $5, Students/Seniors – $3

Please note that student and senior tickets cannot be purchased online in advance. These tickets must be bought in person at the gate with either cash or credit card.

The policy change aligns with the recent passage of House Bill 147, which includes provisions introduced by State Senator Shane Wilkin (R-Hillsboro) to standardize ticket pricing across Ohio. The new legislation addresses issues from last year when the Ohio High School Athletic Association increased ticket prices for cash payments. Senator Wilkin, who sponsored Senate Bill 181—a key component of House Bill 147—expressed his support for the change, stating, “This law will ensure fair pricing and equal treatment for all attendees, regardless of their payment method.”

House Bill 147 updates the definition of qualifying schools and organizations, enforcing uniform pricing standards and ensuring that student tickets are priced lower than those for adults at school-affiliated events.
