Pickaway – The Pickaway County Board of Elections met Wednesday and certified 14 candidates to the ballot for offices in the City of Circleville.
Republicans Michelle Blanton and Dave Horning will face off for the position of mayor.
Four Republicans will be vying for the three at-large positions on Circleville City Council. They include current council members Katie Logan Hedges and Sheri Theis along with Thomas Klitzka and Tom Spring.
Republicans currently running unopposed in the primary include Barry Keller (president of council), Mark Bidwell (auditor), Kendra Kinney (law director), Jeff Hallinin (1st ward council), Don McIlroy (2nd ward council) and Tom Duvall (4th ward council).
Two Democrats were certified to the ballot with Zack Brooks running for mayor and Dominic Ali running for city council to represent the third ward.
In addition to the candidates, the board members also certified a replacement levy for Washington Township. The 1.3 mill levy will be for the construction, resurfacing and repair of roads, streets and bridges for a continuing period of time. It would replace a levy that has been on the books since 1996.
Also on the May ballot will be a zoning referendum in Walnut Township. That issue was certified to the ballot at the Board’s January meeting.
