CIRCLEVILLE – A city employee did the right thing and returned a large amount of money to Veteran this week, that man was so happy about it he insisted on talking to the Mayor.

City Employee Terry Hamilton came across the money while at work, he was meter reading that day. He said he saw the envelope on the ground but didn’t first check it, but then he noticed it again and picked it up, he realized it had a large amount of money inside and decided to turn it into the local bank

“I wanted it to go to the right person, because it was a lot of money and I could tell it was planned for specific purposes.”

The bank went through its records and knew who the money had came from, and called the retired vet.

James Fausnaugh says was walking down Louis ave. on October 1st and must have lost the envelope with all of his retirement monthly check. He had just cashed it and it had 478.00 inside, and that was all planned to go to monthly expenses and without it times would have been tough for Fausnaugh.

Fausnaugh said he served in the military from 56-59 in Europe.

City utility director said that Hamilton was a good employee of three years and that he really didnt expect or want recognition for this.
