City of Hillsboro Declares Water Emergency Limiting Citizens Water Use

Hillsboro, OH — Effective immediately, the City of Hillsboro has issued a Phase II Water Emergency in accordance with Ordinance 51.064. This ordinance restricts various non-essential uses of water from the city’s water system in response to the current water shortage.

Under the Phase II Water Emergency, residents are prohibited from using city water for the following purposes:

  • Watering lawns, flowers, trees, shrubs, or gardens
  • Washing parking lots, driveways, or sidewalks
  • Cleaning motor vehicles, unless done at a high-pressure pay car wash facility
  • Filling swimming pools or fountains
  • Any other non-essential water use

Violations of this ordinance are considered a minor misdemeanor. Individuals will first receive a written or oral warning to cease unauthorized use before facing potential legal consequences.
