Pickaway County, OH — Jason Mclean, 41, of Columbus, has been indicted on charges of voluntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and involuntary manslaughter in connection with a shooting that occurred on August 13, 2024. McLean pleaded not guilty during his arraignment at the Pickaway County Court of Common Pleas.

The incident unfolded around 5:00 PM on Corwin Street, where emergency responders found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite receiving initial treatment at the scene, the victim was later pronounced dead at Berger Hospital.

Witnesses reported that the victim was near a motorcycle at the time of the shooting. In the aftermath, police secured the area with crime scene tape as they began their investigation.

The case has drawn attention due to the involvement of Jaison Mclean, a 41-year-old local businessman and owner of Amnesty Towing, who was arrested and charged with murder. Mclean’s truck was found at the crime scene, parked in front of his business, with the victim’s motorcycle nearby.

Recent developments suggest the shooting may have stemmed from a road rage incident that started in the Logan Elm area. According to Mclean, the motorcycle rider, identified as David Raines, followed him to his towing business and confronted him aggressively while his children were present. Mclean claims that Raines attacked him, prompting him to exit his vehicle while brandishing a handgun. Following the altercation, Raines was shot across the street from Mclean’s truck.

Mclean contends that he called 911 immediately after the shooting and complied with police instructions when they arrived at the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
