Columbus – Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Columbus that occurred around 3 pm.
According to Columbus Police around 3:05 pm Columbus Police officer attempted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Wilson Ave. The sole occupant fled the traffic stop on foot, and police gave chase.
During that chase, one of the officers in the pursuit fired his police-issued handgun and hit the suspect. The male was taken into custody and officers immediately rendered aid. The male was transported to a local hospital where he was reported in stable condition.
Police reported that a handgun was recovered in the possession of the suspect.
Ohio Bureau of Criminal investigations is conducting an investigation into the situation.
