Cora Maxine (Thompson) Gumm-Davis went home to Paradise to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 28, 2025, after an unexpected illness at Riverside Hospital. She was born on January 15, 1940, to Oscar Thomas Thompson and Zella Margaret Kidney Thompson.

And is survived by her sister Judy (Thompson) Oswald of Battlecreek, Michigan.

On December 6, 1958, Cora married Forrest Donavan Gumm, and together they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with three daughters: Robin L. Gumm, Rebecca L. (Steven) Matzenbach, and Rhonda L. (Gary) Woolard. She was also a loving stepmother to Forrest Michael (Jennie) Gumm and Karen L. (Gumm) Pritchard. Later in life, Cora found love again and married Pastor Ted A. Davis on January 15, 2022.

Cora was a dedicated worker throughout her life, having been employed at The Circleville Water Department, PICCA, and Drs. Chrismer and Smith, where she worked in bookkeeping. However, her greatest joy was being a mother and spending time with her family. Cora had a loving, mild-mannered spirit, all who knew her were drawn to love her.

A woman of deep faith, Cora attended the Circleville Nazarene Church for many years and later found a spiritual home at St. John Church of Stoutsville. She treasured the friendships she made there and the fellowship of her church family.

She found happiness in reading, decorating, gardening, and music, always bringing warmth and beauty into the lives of those around her. Cora’s special furbaby, Rudy, was a cherished companion.

Cora had a loving, mild-mannered spirit. All who knew her were drawn to love her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bernard Thompson, and her husband, Forrest Gumm. She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith through her family, including her children, her husband, many nieces and nephews, her dear friends at St. John Church, and all who had the blessing of knowing her.

Cora’s presence will be deeply missed, but her love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Services to be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the St John Church of Stoutsville, 11450 Brown Street, Stoutsville, OH 43154. Pastor Steve Krumm officiating.
