BROWN COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the driver who was killed in a crash involving a school bus on Sunday evening in Brown County. The incident also left two students hospitalized.
Troopers responded to the scene at the intersection of SR-32 and Sardinia Mowrystwn Road in Washington Township at 7:38 p.m. on January 19, 2025, where they found a head-on collision between a Mazda SUV and a Western Brown School bus.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 47-year-old Shawn Wisby from Georgetown was driving east on SR-32 when he veered off the road, crossed the median, and collided with the westbound school bus. Wisby, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two students aboard the bus suffered minor injuries and were transported to Mt. Orab Mercy Hospital for evaluation. Thankfully, their injuries are not life-threatening.
The Eastern Joint Fire and Emergency District (EJFED) responded to the crash, with paramedics arriving shortly after the collision. The bus was confirmed to be a Western Brown School bus, but Wisby was not a passenger on the bus.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. The names of those involved are being withheld pending next of kin notification.
As of now, both eastbound and westbound lanes of SR-32 remain closed while the investigation continues. Authorities will provide updates when the roadway is cleared.
