Detectives Investigate Shooting Death of 4-Year-Old Girl in Jefferson Township

Franklin County, OH – Detectives from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the tragic shooting death of a 4-year-old girl in Jefferson Township. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, January 21, 2025, at approximately 4:30 a.m.

Deputies responded to a shooting report at a residence in the 8000 block of Beardsley Avenue. Upon arrival, authorities discovered that the young girl had been shot by an unknown suspect in what investigators believe was a targeted attack on the home. She was rushed to Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus by Jefferson Township Fire Department medics, but was tragically pronounced dead at 5:44 a.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim was inside the home when the unknown suspect(s) approached the residence and fired shots from the street before quickly fleeing the scene in a dark-colored sedan.

The sheriff’s office detectives are actively working to identify suspects and uncover a potential motive behind the attack. No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
