BOYS JV A
After a slow start and sitting on the outside looking in, the Vikings used the momentum from a huge Game 2 and Game 3 in their Baker games to earn the 3rd seed in the bracket of the 4-team bracket.
In the first round of the bracket, the Vikings squared off with OCC-Buckeye foe Pickerington Central. The Vikings defeated the Tigers 154-131 in Game 1, and 164-147 in Game 2. However, the Tigers would not go away easily. The Tigers were resilient and fought back in Game 3 with a 166-140 victory, and a 169-155 victory in Game 4 to force a Game 5. The Vikings used a huge back-end of the game to defeat the Tigers 166-148.
In the Finals, the Vikings faced off with Big Walnut. The Eagles, who were the top seed in the Boys Varsity and Boys JV brackets, were a tough foe on the opponents. However, the Vikings used the momentum to defeat the Eagles 3-0 in the Finals to earn the Championship of the tournament.
After reflection, the JV Vikings stated that they felt their keys to success were their continued selflessness, teamwork, resiliency, and their reliance on one another. Coach Chuck Cunningham, who has now led the Vikings to multiple 1st Place Finishes with the JV-A, is also credited with leading the Vikings JV team to victory. We also want to credit Team Manager Brooklyn Feasel for her hard work this season with our JV Boys.
Coach Cunningham and the JV-A Vikings get a day rest, before returning to another tournament on Monday at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.
