The quake was centered near Big Branch Rd, a rural area approximately 3 miles north-northwest of Chesapeake, Ohio. Chesapeake, a village in Lawrence County, is located along the Ohio River, just north of Huntington, WV.
Witnesses in the area described hearing a loud boom, followed by the earthquake. Thankfully, no injuries or damage were reported.
