PICKERINGTON, Ohio (AP) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is proposing significant upgrades to the interchange of I-70 near SR 256 and Taylor Road, including construction of a new bridge over the interstate.

While construction is not expected to begin until 2027, depending on funding, ODOT is inviting the public to review the plans and offer feedback at an open house meeting on February 22, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Violet Township Administration Offices in Pickerington.

“This project aims to improve traffic flow and safety at a key intersection,” said Ty Thompson, ODOT project manager. “The new Taylor Road bridge will alleviate congestion and enhance connectivity for the surrounding communities.”

The project website, https://www.transportation.ohio.gov/projects/projects/96808, provides detailed information about the proposed design, including maps, renderings, and a video animation. Residents can also submit questions or comments online.

For those unable to attend the open house, ODOT encourages participation by phone at (740) 323-5194 or by mail to Ty Thompson, 9600 Jacksontown Road SE, Jacksontown, OH 43030. The deadline for submitting comments is March 22, 2024.

“We value community input and want to ensure everyone has an opportunity to learn about and contribute to this important project,” Thompson said. “We encourage residents to participate in the open house or submit their comments online or by mail.”
