OHIO — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer on U.S. Route 33. According to troopers, the crash occurred just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, west of the southern U.S. 50 split. A tractor-trailer traveling westbound crossed the median into the eastbound lanes, striking an oncoming vehicle. After the impact, the tractor-trailer continued through a guardrail and went over an embankment. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 25-year-old Ariann J. Sizemore of Middleport, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to a hospital for treatment. Multiple agencies responded to the crash, including the Athens City Police Department, Athens Fire Department, Athens County EMS, the Athens County Coroner’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
