COLUMBUS – Fairfield County will receive $390,000 to fund park improvements and water quality projects, thanks to federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocations. State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) announced the funding, which aims to enhance community resources and accessibility across the region.

“These funds will help thousands of people access our parks and improve water quality in our environment,” Schaffer said. “These projects will keep our communities on the path to success.”

The funding will support several key initiatives:

  • Bremen: Park improvements will benefit 1,640 residents.
  • Fairfield Beach: Enhancements to local parks will serve 810 people.
  • Amanda: The installation of handicap-accessible ramps will aid 700 residents.
  • Rushville: Upgrades to wastewater treatment facilities will benefit 230 people.

The funding is part of the CDBG Allocation Program, which assists communities designated as non-entitlement under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines. Ohio’s 101 eligible communities alternate receiving funds every two years, with 49 communities sharing $10,997,450 in 2024.

These improvements aim to boost infrastructure and quality of life for Fairfield County residents, fostering a healthier and more inclusive environment.
