Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Alleged Aggravated Murder in Lancaster

LANCASTER, OH — The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on January 17, 2025, at a residence in the 3000 block of Schopp Road, Lancaster, Ohio. Sheriff Alex Lape confirmed that deputies responded to the scene and discovered 51-year-old Darby Russell of Lancaster deceased from a gunshot wound.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office quickly arrived to assist with the ongoing investigation. Kimberly Russell, 44, also of Lancaster, was detained at the scene and subsequently arrested. She has been booked into the Fairfield County Jail on one count of Aggravated Murder, a first-degree felony under Ohio law.

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau is continuing to investigate the incident, and more details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
