Authorities in Pataskala are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 75-year-old woman, which may have involved livestock on her property. The woman was found deceased on her front porch on Mink Street on Christmas Day.
The Licking County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the woman died from extensive bleeding caused by injuries sustained from livestock. According to the office, the injuries were superficial in nature but significant enough to lead to her death. The coroner also noted that the woman had prior health conditions, and they have ruled the death accidental.
Police reports suggest that the pigs, believed to have caused the injuries, lived on a neighboring property. In response to the incident, authorities instructed the owner of the pigs to quarantine the animals while an investigation into the cause of the woman’s death is underway. At this time, no foul play is suspected, but the investigation remains ongoing.
