Lancaster – The Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a tragic two-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality on Monday, April 8, 2024, around 12:43 P.M. The incident occurred on County Road 45, situated in Greenfield Township within Fairfield County.
The victim has been identified as Dean D. Kiger, a 44-year-old resident of Lancaster. Kiger was operating a 2005 Zhejiang Leike Machine Industry Co. Motorcycle and was traveling eastbound on County Road 45 at the time of the collision.
According to authorities, the crash transpired when a 2021 Ram ProMaster 3500, driven by Mohamed K. Barry, a 36-year-old from Columbus, attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway while traveling westbound. Kiger’s motorcycle collided with the Ram during this maneuver.
Regrettably, Kiger was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced deceased on the scene at 12:57 P.M.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol received assistance from various agencies at the scene, including the Greenfield Township Fire/EMS, Bloom Township Fire/EMS, the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office, and the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing as authorities work to determine the sequence of events leading to this tragic incident.
