COLUMBUS, OHIO (April 3, 2024) – In a significant development for Fayette County, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has greenlit an agreement between Northeast Ohio Natural Gas Corporation and L-H Battery Company, a joint venture between LG Energy Solution and Honda Motor Co., to support the establishment of a groundbreaking battery facility in Jeffersonville, Ohio.
This approval paves the way for L-H Battery to invest a staggering $3.5 billion in constructing a state-of-the-art battery plant dedicated to producing lithium-ion batteries. The facility, situated in Jeffersonville, is poised to play a pivotal role in powering Honda and Acura electric vehicle (EV) models destined for the North American market. The total investment is projected to soar to $4.4 billion, heralding the creation of an estimated 2,200 jobs in the region.
“Honda is continuing its historic investment in Ohio thanks in part to Ohio’s regulatory framework,” remarked PUCO Chair Jenifer French. “Natural gas service is a vital tool in Ohio’s economic development endeavors, and we are pleased to see Northeast Ohio Natural Gas facilitating this project.”
