GROVEPORT – For the last several days Columbus Division of Police SWAT officers have attempted to locate Charles J. Shaw Jr. (22), of Columbus. Shaw has been wanted on multiple charges, including Felony Kidnapping, Domestic Violence, and Assault.
Shaw fled on foot last night (July 29) during a traffic stop and was unable to be located. A tip led officers to the Groveport area around 10:15 a.m. this morning. While in the area of the 7300 block of Groveport Rd., one of our K9 Sergeants spotted Shaw fleeing from the rear of an apartment complex parking lot and into a wooded area. Several additional law enforcement agencies dispatched to the area and, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Shaw was spotted near the 6000 block of Ebright Rd.; another foot chase ensued. Following a brief standoff, Shaw was taken into custody
This was an excellent example of law enforcement agencies – Columbus Division of Police, Groveport PD, Madison Twp. PD, Lithopolis PD, and Sheriff’s Office Deputies – all coordinating their efforts in getting an extremely dangerous suspect off our streets
