Franklin County Deputy Arrested by Us Marshalls in Pickaway County on Rape Charges

Pickaway County, OH — August 1, 2024 — In a dramatic development early Wednesday morning, a Franklin County sheriff deputy was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Task Force at his residence in Pickaway County.

Charles Davis, 50, was apprehended at his home on the 600 block of Scioto Street in Circleville around 7 a.m. Neighbors reported that the area was surrounded by Marshals as they executed the arrest.

Davis faces a staggering 58 counts, including 32 counts of rape and 26 counts of gross sexual imposition, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy had been on leave since last year while the investigation into these serious allegations was underway.

“This is an extremely serious matter, and I have full faith in the investigation. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and accountability. I want to reassure our citizens that we are dedicated to transparency, professionalism, and, as always, the safety of our community,” said the Franklin County Sheriff.

No further comments will be made by the Sheriff’s Office while the case proceeds through the judicial system. An internal investigation is also underway
