COLUMBUS – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Norton Road just north of Alkire Road in Franklin County.
Troopers say that on June 23, at approximately 10:19 p.m., a bicycle occupied by an unidentified white male was traveling southbound on Norton Road just north of Alkire Road. A witness at the Shell gas station observed a four-door black pick-up truck with an extended cab, also traveling southbound on Norton Road, strike the bicyclist and flee the scene. The bicyclist was then struck by a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Taylor K. Carter, age 16, of Galloway, Ohio, who was also traveling southbound on Norton Road.
The bicyclist, who remains to be identified, was initially transported to Doctor’s West Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later transported to Grant Medical Center, where he where he succumbed to his injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
