Franklin Furnace Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Shooting in Ironton

A Franklin Furnace man has been charged with murder after a shooting in Ironton, Ohio, left one man dead and another injured on the evening of November 15, 2024.

According to Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman, the 911 communication center received a call at 7:46 p.m. reporting a shooting at 19 Disterdick Lane in Ironton. Deputies and detectives responded to the scene, where they found a male victim deceased behind the wheel of a Chevy Equinox. The vehicle had multiple bullet holes in it.

The victim was later identified as 24-year-old Ronnie L. Rowe of South Shore, Kentucky. Rowe was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body has been sent to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Sheriff Thoroughman confirmed that a suspect was quickly identified and detained at the scene. The suspect, 25-year-old Jacub Tyler Carver of Franklin Furnace, was arrested and charged with one count of Murder, a first-degree felony. Carver is currently being held at the Scioto County Jail on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, November 18, 2024.

During the investigation, detectives discovered that another male was present inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting. That individual fled on foot after the incident but was located by officers just minutes later walking on U.S. 52 in the Franklin Furnace area. He was brought in for questioning and further investigation.

As the investigation continues, additional charges have been brought against Carver. In addition to Murder, he now faces charges of Attempted Murder (a first-degree felony) and Felonious Assault (a second-degree felony).

Sheriff Thoroughman stated that the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) was called in to assist with processing the crime scene, and that the case remains under investigation. More charges may be presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury at a later date.
