WILLIAMSPORT – Ever seen or touched one of these creatures up close? These super friendly, curious animals are available to meet and greet on September 25/26th at one of the biggest Alpaca farms in the state. Located at 10981 US Highway 22 in Williamsport, Ohio, it’s a short drive to see and learn about these amazing gentle creatures. Best of all, they have babies and lots of them.
Alpaca Farms are popping up all across America. Their fiber is in very high demand, and North America is considered a breeder’s market for luxurious fiber. Alpaca fleece usually yields 5-10 pounds per animal per year, is almost completely grease-free, and can be spun directly from the animal. The creatures are gentle, easy, friendly, and very intelligent animals. Ease of care in farming, high-profit yarn, friendly and entertaining, Alpaca farming is here to stay.
“Alpacas love the winter here more than the summer. They are free-roaming on my farm and in the wintertime, they never are in the barn,” said Robin Ridenour, one of the owners of A&R Alpaca Farm.
Rain or shine Robin says they will be ready to talk alpacas. The alpacas will be in the barn and the gift shop is heated/air-conditioned. The Alpaca farm has a gift shop full of Alpaca items, including bears made of the soft fur from these majestic creatures.
This is a great family event going on September 25-26 from 10 am to 5 pm, located at 10981 US Highway 22 Williamsport, Ohio 43164
According to the Facebook group, “Alpaca Farm Days is our annual event. Come out enjoy the alpacas, eat some food, play some games, and shop in our gift shop. We also have several alpacas ready to have their babies, so you may get to meet a new baby.”
