COLUMBUS, Ohio — Governor Mike DeWine, alongside Lt. Governor Jon Husted and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik, has unveiled a significant investment of over $18.2 million in Neighborhood Revitalization and Critical Infrastructure grants to support 34 communities across Ohio. This funding aims to enhance the quality of life for residents through various improvement projects, including critical upgrades to water and sewer systems, roads, parks, and public safety facilities.

“Today, we are addressing essential needs in communities throughout the state,” Governor DeWine stated. “These projects will not only strengthen Ohio’s neighborhoods but will also lay the groundwork for a safer and more prosperous future.”

Of particular interest to Pickaway County, the village of Ashville will receive a $500,000 grant aimed at improving flood and drainage systems along Randolph Street. This street, which has not been repaired since the 1980s, will see significant upgrades including lowering the road, installing curbs, catch basins, and storm pipes to mitigate flooding hazards. The project is expected to benefit approximately 1,085 residents.

Additionally, the city of Circleville is set to receive $500,000 to upgrade water facilities along Walnut Street. The current main water line has failed multiple times and does not meet modern firefighting standards. The grant will fund the replacement of this line, along with the installation of two new fire hydrants and updated valves. This project will positively impact about 3,150 residents.

In nearby Ross County, the village of Adelphi will also benefit from a $500,000 grant to replace aging sewage systems and install new infrastructure. The project aims to improve access for residents and emergency responders during heavy rainfall, addressing health risks posed by outdated sewage infrastructure dating back to the 1930s.

Furthermore, the village of Clarksburg will receive $500,000 to reconstruct a section of 3rd Street and replace essential drainage features, ensuring safer passage for both commercial and personal vehicles.

In a notable Neighborhood Revitalization effort, the village of Williamsport is set to receive a $750,000 grant to implement a variety of projects, including street improvements, sidewalk installations, and enhancements to local parks and community facilities. This comprehensive project is expected to benefit around 1,225 residents.

Lt. Governor Husted emphasized the importance of strong infrastructure for economic growth, stating, “Through this funding, we are equipping Ohio’s communities with the resources necessary for job creation and improved living conditions.”

These grants, part of the federal Community Development Block Grant program, represent a commitment to strengthening Ohio’s communities and ensuring that they are better equipped for the challenges ahead.
