Columbus, OH — In a tribute to those who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Governor Mike DeWine has issued an executive order for flags to be flown at half-staff on Patriot Day. On September 11, 2024, both the American and Ohio state flags will be lowered on all public buildings and grounds across the state from sunrise to sunset.

Governor DeWine has also called on all Ohioans to observe a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. — the time when the first plane struck the World Trade Center. This pause in silence is meant to honor the victims and reflect on the tragic events of that day.
