FRANKLIN – On October 19th, 2019 Franklin County Sheriff reported a fatal car accident that occurred at 4:48 pm on Alkire road west of Johnson Road in Prairie Township.
According to police reports a 1995 silver Chevrolet pick up truck was traveling eastbound on Alkire road when, while negotiating a curve left the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. The Driver Robert Ellis, 53 of Columbus Ohio was transported to Grant Hospital the passenger Daen Ellis 51, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police reports indicate that Robert was drunk at the time of the accident, his blood alcohol was .185 double of the legal limits. Robert Ellis was charged has now been indicted on charges of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide F-1, Aggravated Vehicular Homicide F-2, Operating under the influence F-3, and Operating under the influence F-3 for repeat offender. This is Robert Ellis 13th OVI he has also had 36 past driving suspensions one being still active at the time of the accident.
“While investigating this fatal traffic crash it was very clear to investigators that Mr. Ellis is one of the wort habitual repeat offenders of drunk driving we have ever seen. He has no regard for human life continuing to be an extreme danger to the motoring public due to his criminal behavior of operating vehicles while impaired. It is further evident in this case in which he has caused the death of his wife while having a blood alcohol of .185, which is more than double the legal limit,” Franklin Sheriff office.
