Chillicothe — If you’re looking for handcrafted, lighthearted, irreverent fun – maybe with some piercing social and political commentary – try the “Street Cat Zine Fest” this Saturday in Chillicothe.
I was introduced to the event’s organizer who happened to be at Chillicothe Council Monday night. Stephanie Renner told me she started the event named after a feline adoptee in 2017 in Lancaster. This will be the second year it’s in Chillicothe, in the Scioto Township Hall.

The event’s website links to what zines are: “Short for magazine or fanzine, zines are self-publications, motivated by a desire for self-expression, not for profit.” They became a semi-underground DIY counterculture phenomenon that grew out of sci fi and punk more than 20 years ago.
Watch my interview with Renner below.
The Street Cat Zine Fest is 1 to 6pm Saturday at 164 South Watt Street in Chillicothe. They have a website (8-bit style!), Facebook page, and Instragram page.
