US – A holiday that is celebrated the day after Valentine’s day celebrates singles and love for yourself
Called “Singles Awareness day” it is celebrated not only for singles though, but for people who detest Valentine’s day, and its commercial glory.
Valentine’s day can be a sad day for single who do not have a significant other and see social media posts about flowers and love. It can be depressing so a man named Dustin Barnes created the event on 2001 for his group of friends to enjoy their singleness rather than drown in their sorrows.
Dustin carried the idea to College with him were he copywrited the day in 2005 and it continued to grow since.
Around half of the US is single, according to the US Census that’s 126.9 million unmarried and unacknowledged people.
So happy singles awareness day, celebrate not having to share a bathroom, or having to clean up after someone else, and being able to sit in a quiet room.
