LANCASTER, Ohio — Harcum House has officially launched renovations at the former Hunter Trace Center, marking a major milestone in its journey toward establishing a permanent home for children and families impacted by abuse in Fairfield County.

The renovation project kicks off as Harcum House’s Capital Campaign continues to gain momentum, moving closer to its fundraising goal. Thanks to strong community support, much of the renovation costs are already covered, but additional funds are needed to fully realize the organization’s vision.

“We’re grateful to be nearing our goal and are excited that, with a slight increase in our aspirations, we can ensure the space is everything we envisioned,” said Kate Smiley, Capital Campaign Chair. “We are seeking 10% more funding — an additional $100,000 — to make this dream a reality.”

Harcum House, a nonprofit organization providing vital services to children and families affected by abuse and trauma, launched its Capital Campaign last fall. The campaign aims to raise over $1 million to renovate, furnish, and support operations at the new facility. Each contribution brings the organization closer to a forever home that embodies the care and compassion behind its mission.

Community members, businesses, and philanthropic groups are encouraged to support the campaign. Donations can be made and more information found at harcumhouse.org/capitalcampaign.
