A dramatic sequence of events unfolded in Chillicothe on July 20th, 2024, culminating in a high-speed chase and subsequent arrest following a traffic stop. According to reports from the Chillicothe Police Department, Officer was initially behind a red Chevy Malibu at the intersection of S Watt and E Main Street. Observing the vehicle commit several traffic violations, including failure to signal turns and stopping over the stopping bar, Officer attempted a routine traffic stop.

The situation quickly escalated when the driver of the Malibu, described as a black male with long dreadlocked hair, allegedly accelerated abruptly, spinning his tires and evading Officer’s initial approach. Ignoring Officer’s lights and sirens, the vehicle reportedly maneuvered through residential yards and alleys, weaving dangerously and even colliding with another vehicle near 157 N Watt Street.

Upon the collision, the driver fled on foot, prompting Officer to draw his service weapon and give chase while ensuring the safety of a passenger left inside the Malibu. The passenger, later identified as Robert Ray, complied with Officer’s commands and was detained. It was later discovered that Ray had an active warrant for his arrest.

Subsequent searches of the vehicle yielded significant findings. Inside the driver’s door panel compartment, a large block of white powdery substance, suspected to be cocaine, was discovered. Additionally, a wallet belonging to Andre Ingram, matching the description of the fleeing driver, was found in the vehicle. Despite extensive searches and efforts by officers to locate Ingram, he remains at large.

Following the incident, Ray was transported to Ross County Jail and charged with possession of illegal substances. The seized evidence, including the suspected cocaine and Ingram’s belongings, was processed and documented by authorities. Efforts to contact the owner of the Malibu, a female, were reportedly unsuccessful.

The incident underscores ongoing concerns about public safety and law enforcement efforts in Chillicothe. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the chase and subsequent crash, urging anyone with information on Andre Ingram’s whereabouts to come forward.

For now, the community remains on alert as the search for the fleeing suspect continues amidst heightened tensions regarding drug-related activities in the area.
