CIRCLEVILLE, OH – Early this morning, around 7 a.m., crews from the Circleville Fire Department (CFD) responded to a significant house fire on the city’s south side, assisted by personnel from Pickaway Township, Harrison Township, Clearcreek EMS, and Box 65.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions at the rear of the home, which had self-vented. Crews quickly made their way inside and managed to extinguish the flames, although the house suffered extensive fire, heat, and smoke damage. The neighboring home also experienced damage to its exterior siding.

Tragically, several pets inside the home did not survive the blaze, but the owners were unharmed. Fortunately, the timing of the call coincided with a shift change, allowing the CFD to respond with a total of 15 personnel.

The Circleville Fire Department extends its sympathies to the affected occupants as they cope with the loss caused by this devastating fire. The cause of the blaze was investigated by the State Fire Marshall and according to Chief Thompson, it was ruled accidental.
