Commercial Vehicle Fire on US Route 35 Closes Westbound Lanes for Two Hours
Jackson County, Ohio (January 17, 2024) – A tractor-trailer fire on US Route 35 near milepost one resulted in a two-hour closure of the westbound lanes this evening.

- Vehicle: 2023 Volvo semi driven by Joseph L. Knecht, 36, of Brookeville, Indiana
- Cause: Trailer fire, cause under investigation
Response and Impact:
- Mr. Knecht safely pulled the truck to the shoulder and uncoupled from the burning trailer.
- Upon arrival, troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Jackson Post found the trailer engulfed in flames.
- US Route 35 westbound was shut down for approximately two hours while multiple fire departments extinguished the fire.
- One lane was re-opened once the fire was under control.
