SAG HARBOR, NY — Pop star Justin Timberlake was charged with drunken driving early Tuesday in the upscale village of Sag Harbor in New York’s Hamptons. Police reported that the incident occurred after Timberlake allegedly ran a stop sign and veered out of his lane in the seaside retreat.

The former boy band singer-turned-solo artist and actor was driving a 2025 BMW around 12:30 a.m. when an officer stopped him and suspected he was intoxicated, according to court documents.

“His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” the court papers revealed. Timberlake, 43, admitted to the officer that he had one martini and was following some friends home, according to the documents.

After being arrested and taken to a police station in nearby East Hampton, Timberlake refused a breath test. The court documents listed his occupation as “professional” and noted he is “self-employed.”

The 10-time Grammy winner was released without bond later Tuesday morning following his arraignment in Sag Harbor. He faces a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated and is scheduled to appear in court on July 26, according to the Suffolk County district attorney’s office.

Timberlake has two upcoming shows in Chicago on Friday and Saturday and is set to perform at New York’s Madison Square Garden on June 25 and 26.
