[Lancaster, Ohio, May 11, 2020] The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a phone scam advising people they have a warrant out for their arrest.

The Sheriff’s Office has begun to receive phone calls from concerned citizens advising that they have received calls using one of our Sergeant’s name and rank claiming that he has a warrant for them.

The party states that their name is Sgt. Forrest Cassel and are calling from the number of 740-917-9035. When dialing that telephone number back, it will answer the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s office will never demand money or gift cards. Nor will we call you threatening arrest or advising you we have a warrant for your arrest.

Sheriff Phalen is asking anyone who receives a call from someone saying they are from the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office and are not sure if it is legitimate, tell the caller that you will call them back on routine line. The real phone number of the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is (740) 652-7900.
