LANCASTER, OH – The city of Lancaster has been chosen as a key stopping point in the 2024 Hemmings Motor News Great Race, scheduled for June. This nine-day, 2,300-mile classic car rally features 120 of the world’s finest antique automobiles competing for $150,000 in cash prizes.

Unlike typical car races, the Great Race focuses on precision and strategy rather than speed. Teams earn points based on the accuracy of the driver and navigator in matching a specified time and speed along a predetermined course.

On Sunday, June 23, the rally will make its first lunch stop in Lancaster, with cars expected to arrive just after noon in the South Broad Street area. This will be an opportunity for locals to witness these meticulously maintained antique cars up close and learn more about the unique event.

The Hemmings Motor News Great Race, presented by Coker Tire, has been a celebrated event since its inception in 1983. Initially a two-week, cross-country race for vehicles built before World War II, the race has evolved over time. The 2024 edition begins in Owensboro, Kentucky, and concludes in Gardiner, Maine, on June 30. Throughout its course, the race will pass through 11 states and 19 cities, showcasing automotive history and precision driving skills across the country.
