Lancaster Police Seek Public’s Help After Early Morning Shooting and Vehicle Crash

Lancaster – The Lancaster Police Department (LPD) is calling on the public for assistance following two separate incidents that occurred early this morning, August 16, 2024.

At approximately 3:28 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call about a shooting at Timbertop Apartments, located in the 2200 block of North Columbus Street. The caller reported that three unidentified males were attempting to break into parked vehicles. When confronted, one of the suspects brandished a handgun and fired two rounds in the caller’s direction. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The suspects fled the scene, heading toward Lowe’s and the entrance to River Valley Highlands, and are currently at large.

Shortly after, at 3:47 a.m., police were dispatched to a crash at Midtown Apartments, located at 1300 Community Way. A vehicle crashed into a building, and it was later determined that the vehicle had been stolen from the Relax Inn at 1327 River Valley Boulevard shortly before the incident. The identity of the individual who stole the vehicle remains unknown.

At this time, it is unclear whether these two incidents are connected. The Lancaster Police Department is actively investigating and seeks the community’s help.
