Jackson, OH (July 14, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash on Limerick Road, just north of Big Rock Road in Jackson County, has prompted an investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, underscoring the importance of safe driving practices in the region.
The incident, reported at 8:13 PM yesterday evening, involved Regenia Lear, a 62-year-old resident of Laurelville, Ohio, who was driving a black 2014 Volkswagen Passat southbound on Limerick Road. Haylie Johnson, 19, from Beaver, Ohio, was operating a gray 2011 Toyota Camry northbound on the same road. According to initial reports, Johnson veered left of center in a curve, resulting in a head-on collision with Lear’s vehicle.
Emergency responders from Jackson County EMS swiftly arrived at the scene and transported both drivers to Holzer Hospital in Jackson, Ohio, for treatment of minor injuries. Assistance was provided by Jackson County Emergency Medical Services, Liberty Township Fire Department, as well as Bobst Towing and Fletcher’s Towing to manage the aftermath.
Due to the severity of the crash, Limerick Road had to be shut down in both directions for approximately two hours while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
In light of this incident, the Ohio State Highway Patrol issued a reminder to all motorists to avoid distractions while driving and to always wear seat belts, emphasizing the critical role of safe driving habits in preventing accidents.
