MONTGOMERY COUNTY, OH – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Miami Valley Bulk Smuggling Task Force have issued a critical public safety alert following the seizure of 64.8 grams of a deadly synthetic drug mixture during an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Lab results confirmed the substance is a combination of Eutylone, a dangerous synthetic stimulant, and fentanyl, a powerful and often fatal opioid.

Eutylone, often misrepresented and sold as ecstasy or “molly,” belongs to the synthetic cathinone class commonly referred to as “bath salts.” On its own, the drug poses serious health risks—but when mixed with fentanyl, the consequences can be even more lethal.

According to authorities, this combination is particularly alarming because Narcan (naloxone)—a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses—may not be sufficient to save lives in such cases. The stimulant effects of Eutylone can delay or mask overdose symptoms, making timely medical intervention difficult.

“This is a lethal combination of drugs that is designed to mislead the user and maximize addiction potential,” said Sheriff Rob Streck. “We want the public to know the risk is not theoretical—it’s here, and it’s deadly.”

Eutylone has already been linked to a spike in overdose cases in Florida, and its emergence in the Midwest suggests a troubling shift in drug trafficking patterns.

Law enforcement agencies are urging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The Task Force continues to work aggressively to stop the spread of synthetic and highly addictive substances in the region.
