Chillicothe, OH – Local attorney Jason M. Miller has officially announced his Republican candidacy for Chillicothe Municipal Court Judge. Miller aims to succeed the Honorable John B. Street, who has decided not to seek re-election for the term beginning January 1, 2026.

Miller, a Ross County native, brings over two decades of experience and exceptional qualifications to the judicial race. He currently serves as the Assistant Law Director for the City of Chillicothe and as a practicing attorney at Villarreal Law Firm.

A 1994 graduate of Zane Trace High School, Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Ohio University in 1998. He then attended Ohio Northern University, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 2001. Miller is licensed to practice law in Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Throughout his nearly 24-year career, Miller has worked as a trial attorney. After beginning his legal career as an associate attorney at Earl, Warburton, Adams & Davis, LLP in Columbus, Miller transitioned into the role of Assistant Prosecutor in Ross County Juvenile and Adult Felony Courts under then-County Prosecutor Scott Nusbaum. He was later recruited to serve as Hardin County Municipal Prosecutor and Assistant Hardin County Prosecuting Attorney. Miller returned to his hometown in early 2021.

In his career, Miller has also served as Village Solicitor for four local municipalities and as legal counsel for two joint ambulance districts. He is a certified Ohio Supreme Court Mediator and has mediated nearly 100 cases. Miller has successfully tried more than 100 felony and misdemeanor criminal jury trials, as well as hundreds of bench trials in both criminal and civil courts.

Additionally, Miller has served as Acting Judge in Bellefontaine Municipal Court under the appointment of Retired Judge Ann Beck.

Beyond his legal expertise, Miller has a strong history of civic involvement. He worked as a campaign partner for the late Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer and served as an early campaign liaison for Retired Supreme Court Justice Judith Lanzinger. He has been active with several organizations, including the American Red Cross, Chillicothe Evening Lions, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Chillicothe Rotary, and other community groups. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Bar Associations of Ross and Scioto Counties.

Miller is married to April (Butchers) Miller, a Chillicothe native. The couple has two daughters, ages 15 and 18, who attend Chillicothe High School.

Miller’s candidacy for judge highlights his extensive trial experience and deep commitment to public service, making him a highly qualified candidate for the position.
