Local Court Reports: Guilty Pleas and Sentences Handed Down

The Court of Common Pleas saw a busy day on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, with several cases resulting in guilty pleas and sentences.

Austin B. Keil, 29, of Bloomingburg, was sentenced to 36 months in prison for attempted kidnapping. Kayvon E. Smothers, 27, of Detroit, received an 18-month prison sentence and a 10-year driver’s license suspension for fleeing and eluding.

Shannen N. Stewart, 33, of Ashville, was given a suspended 36-month prison sentence, 3 years of community control, and ordered to attend Drug Court and treatment for aggravated possession of drugs.

Other cases included:

  • Joseph L. Avilucea, 27, pleaded not guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, with a jury trial set for October 3.
  • Darrick T. Bryant, 28, was found competent to stand trial for burglary, with a jury trial set for August 22.
  • Sabrina M. Coltey, 38, had a presentence investigation ordered for breaking and entering.
  • Terry W. Griffin, 48, pleaded guilty to felony OMVI, with a pretrial set for September 13.
  • Colin Ray Hettinger, 27, had a presentence investigation ordered for aggravated possession of drugs.
  • Joseph R. Horn, 34, was sentenced to 14 days in Pickaway County Jail and ordered into a sober living program for violation of community control.
  • Eric Lee Parker, 39, had a presentence investigation ordered for obstructing official business.
  • David A. Pearson, 44, pleaded not guilty to negligent homicide, with a pretrial set for September 13.
  • Sarah Ann Weaver, 30, was found competent to stand trial for felonious assault and making a terroristic threat, with a jury trial set for September 5.
