Rockford, IL – Local businessman Brandon Schlichter, known for his real estate ventures in Pickaway County and investments in businesses like Royal Car Wash and Trippy’s Laundromat, is preparing to take ownership of H.C. Anderson Roofing Company, a 26-year-old family commercial roofing company based in Rockford, Illinois. This acquisition marks Schlichter’s first out-of-state investment and represents a significant step in his growing business portfolio.
In an interview, Schlichter expressed optimism about the transaction, highlighting his goal of bringing high-quality, well-paying jobs to the Rockford community. “I’m really excited about this opportunity. For years now, I wanted to make a huge difference in a local community by bringing extremely high-quality, well-paying jobs to the area,” he shared. Though he originally hoped to create such opportunities in Pickaway County or Circleville, Schlichter is eager to seize the chance to make an impact elsewhere.
After a year of exploring potential investments, ranging from gravel and paving companies to a large, national trucking firm, Schlichter decided H.C. Anderson Roofing, a Commercial Roofing Company in Rockford Illinois was the right fit. “They do wonderful work on government contracting and work with state and local agencies. I like the idea of not only paying the workers very well but also bringing a lot of savings to the taxpayer,” he noted.
However, Schlichter emphasized that his new venture will not detract from his businesses in Ohio. “My overall hope is that there will be absolutely no detrimental impacts to my businesses here in Ohio. I’ve done my best over many years to provide quality, affordable housing to the community. Some ways I have completed that mission, some ways I have totally failed,” Schlichter said. He added, “In the end, I don’t think that there’s going to be significant impact to my Ohio operations, other than the fact that I will be bringing some money home here to the community, which I desire to reinvest.”
Beyond his real estate interests, Schlichter is focused on tackling broader issues, such as housing affordability, and he is proud of his role in recent philanthropic efforts, including supporting a church ministry in building a water filtration facility in Africa. “I know that’s a little bit farther away than people might want to think of, but I look at just how much power a southern Ohio can-do attitude can have impact-wise on the world, and I’d like to bring that to a bigger scale,” Schlichter said.
Looking ahead, Schlichter is excited about further opportunities. “Now that we’ve completed this purchase, I’m excited about what else we can get into. I certainly would not mind getting into commercial roofing investments, and the construction industry in a better way here in Ohio,” he explained.
Currently, H.C. Anderson Roofing employs 14 people, but Schlichter has ambitious plans for growth. “I would love to see that at 75 total jobs built and created by the end of next year, with the ultimate goal of scaling to 200 high-quality jobs within three to five years,” he said.
With Schlicker at the helm, the future of H.C. Anderson Roofing looks bright, as he aims to expand both the company’s workforce and its community impact, all while maintaining a focus on his Ohio roots.
