Pickaway County, OH — Maggie Wilson, a senior at Logan Elm Local School District, has been honored as the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award recipient for Pickaway County by the Ohio Educational Service Center Association (OESCA). This prestigious recognition is awarded to Ohio’s top students who excel academically and demonstrate exceptional community service.
Wilson will be formally recognized on Monday, April 14, 2025, during the annual Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Awards Program at the Renaissance Columbus Westerville-Polaris Hotel. The event will celebrate the achievements of outstanding high school seniors from all 88 Ohio counties.
Each year, one senior from every county is nominated by their respective Educational Service Center (ESC), with candidates selected based on academic performance, test scores, school and community involvement, and honors received.
“This award recognizes students who have demonstrated not only academic excellence but also resilience, grit, and a strong commitment to serving their communities,” said Craig Burford, Executive Director of OESCA. “Maggie Wilson’s accomplishments make her a standout among her peers, and she exemplifies the qualities we celebrate with this award.”
Since its establishment in 1989, the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award has honored more than 2,600 scholars and student leaders across Ohio. The program is named after Franklin B. Walter, the thirty-first State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and aims to highlight outstanding student achievement and community service.
OESCA, which has been serving Ohio’s educational service centers for over a century, remains committed to supporting school districts and students across the state. The association continues to advocate for equal access to quality education for all students, regardless of their location or school district.
This year’s award marks another milestone for the OESCA in its ongoing mission to promote excellence in education and recognize the bright futures of Ohio’s young leaders.
